Recycling in Riverside
Monday, January 12th, 2009Take the first step towards going green in 2009 by recycling common household goods. Riverside offers two easy ways for residents to recycle:
FREE curbside recycling – have your recycling picked up weekly with your trash. Stop by City Hall, 2950 NW Vivion Road, to pick up a recycling bin or call 741-3993 for more information. Questions about what can be recycled? Visit the Recycling page on the Riverside Web site.
FREE Co-mingled and Paper Recycling Bins – Bulk recycling bins for both paper and co-mingled goods (aluminum, plastic, steel, cardboard and phonebooks) are located near the Public Safety Building on the Municipal Campus. Although there is a separate bin for paper, items in the co-mingled bin do not need to be sorted.
Currently, there is not an option to recycle glass in Riverside.
Fast Fact: Glass recycling poses many challenges: broken glass contaminate materials with the highest value like paper, threatens worker safety, damages collection and sorting equipment, and revenues are lost because of long hauling distances to processing facilities. Glass is currently recycled at community recycling centers, and efforts are underway to expand the number of recycling drop-off locations for residents and businesses. Source: RecycleSpot.org.
