Riverside Public Safety
Fire Prevention Division
The Fire Prevention Division is committed to preventing fire-related injuries from occurring.
When a building is being built or renovated, the plans are reviewed carefully to be sure the proper building materials, fire protection and alarm systems are included. After the building is occupied, it is assigned to a fire inspector based on it's location in the city and receives a fire inspection once a year.
Safety education classes are available for businesses and residents ages 3 and up on a variety of topics. Youth firesetting is a problem in every city. The Prevention Division provides education and support services to youth firesetters and their families.
Fire investigations are also the responsibility of the Prevention Division.
