Safe disposal of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

For all residents of Riverside, permanent household hazardous waste drop-off sites are available to you at no charge. This is another FREE service provided for you by the Public Works department of the City of Riverside for the betterment of our community.

Do Riverside residents have permanent collection sites available?
Yes. The MARC program is designed to provide participants with convenient access to proper HHW disposal. Riverside residents may take HHW products to the permanent collection facilities in Kansas City, Missouri and Lee's Summit at no charge. Proof of residency is required.

Are there also mobile collection sites?
Yes. In addition to the permanent sites, residents of Riverside may drop off HHW products at any of the mobile collections to be held throughout the year. To find out exact locations for upcoming mobile collections, please see the document center and click on "HazWasteCollectionSchedule" or call (816) 701-8226.

What are the locations of the two (2) permanent collection centers?
1st site: City of Kansas City, MO 4707 Deramus (just south of the Chouteau Bridge in the east river bottoms) Hours: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 9:00am - 4:00pm. Phone (816) 784-20-80 Note: Appointments are required

2nd site: City of Lee's Summit, MO 2101 SE Hamblin Rd. (at the Lee's Summit Resource Recovery Park) Hours: 7 a.m. - 12 noon. Open the first Saturday of the month, April through November. Phone: 816/969-7516 Note: Appointments are required, 100 lb. limit per visit

What is accepted?
Automotive fluids, batteries, fuels, household cleaners, lawn & garden products, pesticides, paint and related products.

What cannot be accepted at this time?
Explosives, yard waste, medical waste, commercial waste, pressurized gas cylinders, asbestos, tires, appliances.
