Riverside Parks and Recreation

Whether you enjoy biking, walking, runnning, picnicing, a rousing game of volleyball or just kicking back and lounging, Riverside has a variety of beautiful parks for you to enjoy. Our parks also provide a dramatic backdrop for fairs, festivals and special events.

E.H. Young Riverfront Park
is right on the riverfront and features a beautiful brick and stone riverwalk area with an overlook.

Park amenities include a paved walking trail, four shelters, an amphitheater, a large children's playground area, a ball field, a chiming carillon and more.

Some of the facilities at E. H. Young Riverfront Park can be reserved.

Renner Brenner Park
is on the National Register of Historic Places  due to its Native American history and artifacts. This park's many features –some of which can be reserved– include a gazebo overlooking Line Creek, a new Skate Park for "radical" fun, a large playground area and much more.

Homestead Park
is a neighborhood park with a picnic area, children's playground and basketball courts.

Park Hours:
From dawn to dusk, except by special permission.  Public Safety closes the parks at dusk.

Park Rules
:
•For your safety, no alcoholic beverages are permitted.
•Please keep domestic animals on a leash.
•Protect our history – please no collecting of archeological artifacts.
•Camping is not permitted.
•Help protect our parks - no fires please.

Citizens Police Academy

Be a part of the first Riverside Citizens Police Academy (CPA)! The CPA will start on Monday, January 12 and will provide community members with an inside look at several aspects of law enforcement in Riverside. Participants will be introduced to a variety of topics during the eight-week academy, which is designed to give community members an overview of the police department's function and operational procedures. Students will have the opportunity to meet the Chief of Police and other department staff members, and will be encouraged to ask questions and engage in conversation about the department.

Topics that will be covered during the academy are: Accident Investigation, Traffic Enforcement, Criminal Investigation, Police Communications and the 911 System, Narcotic Investigations, Special Weapons and Tactics, Hostage Negotiations, Firearms Training, K-9 Unit Training, and the Municipal Court System. For further information on the CPA, please contact Captain Gary McMullin at 816-741-1191, or sent an email to citizenspoliceacademy@riversidemo.com.
