As the City of Parkville continues to be on high alert for flooding, the Main Street Parkville Association has forged new partnerships to be sure families will be able to enjoy the organization’s traditional, community July 4th Festival.
As in year’s past, MSPA is hosting the Evans-Empire Carnival. The location has been changed this year to the parking lot of Park Hill South High School. The carnival will be open from 6 pm to 10 pm, Thursday, June 30 through Sunday, July 3. On July 4th, families will be able to enjoy the carnival rides and games from 12 noon until 11 pm at PHHS. Thursday and Friday are “wristband” nights, where you can enjoy all of the rides for only $20!
MSPA’s spectacular fireworks display will be in Riverside off of Horizons Parkway. The display is free. The best viewing of the display will be from the Park Hill South High School parking lot. On July 4th, MSPA is providing free shuttle service to Park Hill South High School from 6 pm until midnight. Parking and shuttle stops will be at Patriots Bank in downtown Parkville and from the Platte County Community Center South (YMCA) at Parkville Commons, 9 Hwy just south of 63rd Street).
“We are very thankful for the partnership we have made between Downtown Parkville and the City of Riverside,” said July 4th Festival Chair Tom Hutsler. “It was very important to MSPA to continue this family tradition. We would have preferred to have the carnival and fireworks at their traditional locations, but we believe it is very important to consider the safety and welfare of the families and children who will be attending. We believe it is better to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of our community. The City of Riverside has generously stepped up so the July 4th festival can be held this year. We are very appreciative of their assistance.”
“We are also very grateful to the Park Hill School District,” said Chair Kuhns. “By allowing us to host the carnival at Park Hill South High School, we will be able to have the funds to support the festival this year. They have been very helpful and accommodating.”
