Vermicomposting Workshop

Worm composting, also known as Vermicomposting, uses earthworms to turn organic wastes into high quality compost. The worms not only decompose food scraps, but they make highly fertile topsoil for crop growth.
Residents are encouraged to bring their old recycling bins, or a similar container, to the workshop where one of the City’s residents will give a demonstration on how to properly create a worm farm. Several residents, including the Mayor, already have worm bins and are excited about sharing the process with the rest of the City. The process is simple, cheap and surprisingly easy to maintain—there are no fruit flies, spiders, or other critters to worry about.
If you’re serious about worm composting, or just want to engage the kids in a fun project, don’t forget to stop by the Riverside Community Center at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 19. See you there!
