You are invited to walk or run in Kansas City's newest 5K/10K run/walk event! This beautiful "out and back" course starts and ends in the E. H. Young Riverfront Park in Riverside and runs atop the levee alongside the Missouri River.
Proceeds from this event go to the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment ("SAFE"), a non-profit program managed by the Kansas City Crime Commission that provides benefits to the families of fire fighters, law enforcement officials and EMS personnel that perish in the line of duty.
The event is named in honor of Jeff Taylor, a Riverside Police Officer that was struck and killed by lightning while conducting search and rescue operations in the aftermath of the 2011 Joplin tornado. Jeff represents thousands of men and women that risk their lives every day to protect the communities that we live in.
Please help us honor Jeff's memory and support the public safety community by coming out and participating in this event.
About SAFE
The Surviving Spouse And Family Endowment Fund ("SAFE") exists to support the families of Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Services Personnel in the Kansas City metro area who have perished while protecting our community and our citizens. In an effort to help ease the pain felt by these suffering families, SAFE provides emotional and financial support. In this way, we hope to repay some of the kindness and dedication these heroes have shown us and the ultimate sacrifice they have made for us.
