Public Safety to Tweet All Calls for One Hour

Taking its cue from other police departments across the country, the City of Riverside will provide an inside look into a day’s work for Riverside police officers and firefighters. For one hour on Saturday, August 6 and one hour on Tuesday, August 9, the City will be tweeting and Facebooking all calls that the police and fire departments respond to.

Riverside got the idea from similar initiatives that were recently conducted in Wichita and Seattle.

“The City of Riverside already has strong social media following through Twitter, Facebook and Nixle,” Riverside Public Information Officer Meredith Hauck said. “We hope this initiative will allow us to test additional uses for these networks, as well as help inform the public about what our public safety staff handles every day.”

The first hour will be on Saturday, August 6 from 1 to 2 p.m., and the second hour will be on Tuesday, August 9 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
