KCPL Work Complete in Indian Hills

Residents in Indian Hills will experience fewer power outages this spring thanks to work recently completed by Kansas City Power and Light. Over the past few months, KCPL crews have been in the area replacing power lines and equipment. Although the electricity was out for a short period of time last week while the final work items were completed, residents in this neighborhood should notice their power outages will be significantly minimized in the future. The City of Riverside and KCPL thank you for your patience while we worked to address this issue and get you back online!

3/15/2011 Update
Travis Hoover, the City's Capital Projects Engineer, spoke with KCPL this morning about the two additional power outages last week.  According to KCPL, those outages were caused by faulty equipment that has since been repaired, and are unrelated to the upgrades in Indian Hills.

Power Outage 101

Who do I call? If your power is out, please call KCPL at 1-888-544-4852 (1-888-LIGHTKC). They will make note of the outage and respond as soon as possible.

Should I call the City or report it to 9-1-1 also? No. City staff or the 9-1-1 operators are usually aware of the outage already. Calling 9-1-1 may clog phone lines for those who need to report a true emergency.

But doesn’t the City have access to KCPL who can get it fixed faster? Only for life-threatening situations. City staff and 9-1-1 operators must report general power outages to KCPL through the same number as everyone that is provided above.
